Love Lounge -- sounds cozy, doesn't it? Well that's exactly what owner and facilitator, Isla Edwards, has in mind. Last February, I joined on a whim. After searching for an off-premise club as an alternative to the swing parties in the Pacific Northwest, I filled out the short questionnaire on the web site. Two days later, Love Lounge Seattle welcomed me in. For those of you new to the scene, Love Lounge provides a relaxed atmosphere for socializing. It's different than any other club I've attended. Many organize theme parties and dances at a set venue owned by the club. Some allow sex on-premises, and others only provide a sexy place to drink, dance, and hook up. Traditional clubs also cater to couples and single women, regardless of sexual orientation. Some clubs allow single men to attend. Love Lounge Seattle, however, follows a completely different standard, and its difference can accommodate couples and single women that find themselves uncomfortable with public sex.
The club facilitates introductions only. Love Lounge is not a dating service or an on-premise club. The requirements for general membership are minimal. Women must be bisexual and their partners must support them. No single men are allowed. Each event is held at a different lounge or club within Seattle, adding flair and variety. General events are free to attend after a small membership fee.
Once a woman or a couple has joined, they are granted access to all Love Lounge Internet resources, such as the member photo galleries, chat, forums, lists, and profiles. Two weeks prior to an event, Love Lounge E-mails invitations to members, listing particulars for the upcoming gathering, including a dress code. Members are provided with a pass phrase as well, so as to ensure anonymity and discretion from outsiders.
Unlike on-premise clubs, members are not required to undergo an orientation before attending. The electronic invitation provides all the information needed to attend an event. So far as I can tell, the only important factors to bear in mind are the pass phrase -- you won't be recognized without it, the dress code, and the event venue. Some of the gatherings are held at rather upscale hotels and lounges. Considering the dress code is rather vague most of the time, I'd advise researching the venue if you are unfamiliar with it.
Love Lounge also offers another unique service, select membership. This benefit allows general members to elaborate on what it is they are looking for. The online form takes about 20 minutes to complete, but it enables the owner to introduce you to other like-minded couples and singles within the group. Periodically, Love Lounge organizes events for select members in order to optimize meeting the right couple. Attending these events typically incurs an extra fee.
Love Lounge members aren't restricted to Seattle. Many members live in California, Oregon, and Idaho, to name a few states, and attend events when they are in town. Some couples live in a completely different region and choose to join even if they are to visit once. Love Lounge doesn't allow members to bring guests. Everyone who attends must become a full member beforehand. For your sexy, out of town friends, the club has reserved a few full paid memberships for 'would-be guest' couples and singles.
So if you are new to the Lifestyle, and aren't all that interested in going to an on-premise club, you might want to check out the Love Lounge. And if you don't live in the Seattle Metro area, there's no problem. You can always plan a vacation in the Pacific Northwest around the time of a Love Lounge event and hook up while you're in town.
