Video-taping your experiences

While surfing the Internet the other day I came across a question and answer sex web site. I found this question to be very interesting. The question was, "My husband and I occasionally use our camcorder to record our lovemaking sessions. We both enjoy viewing them later and now have a small "greatest hits" collection. Recently, I started wondering about it. Is there anything we should be worried about, or can any harm come from doing this?"

The answer on the web site read: "Since the advent of affordable camcorders (and now digital recorders), couples can enjoy making movies of themselves engaged in various behaviors, including sex. It certainly can be a great turn-on, sort of like making your own personal porn flick. There is no harm in videotaping yourself and your husband engaging in sexual activities. Of course, some couples are surprised by what they see. Few of us look as good as the porn stars who are carefully made-up and filmed under perfect lighting. Plus, most individuals cannot keep up with the sexual athletics of these professionals. Just keep a good sense of humor and remember that comparing yourself negatively would be akin to making a home movie of your family playing basketball and then being embarrassed that you can't shoot as well as Michael Jordan. The biggest thing you should be worried about is what happens to these tapes. It is not unheard of for people to accidentally return the wrong video to Blockbusters or for kids looking for a blank tape to stumble upon mommy and daddy swinging from the chandelier. I highly suggest that you lock up your tapes in a secure place and make sure they are well labeled, perhaps in some sort of code, and keep track of them. You also might want to make a deal with your spouse that under no circumstances will either of you ever make a copy or do anything with the tapes without the other's permission. Aside from these safeguards, enjoy yourselves and hope that you don't end up in a nasty divorce and find your face (or much more) plastered all over the Internet."

I agree with the answer in that video taping your sex activity can be a great turn-on and loads of fun. After all, camcorders were invented to record all memories, not just birthdays and weddings. Watching your selves having sex can be a great aphrodisiac to initiate sex and can get things started between a couple. There are quite a few mainline films that cover the subject like "Sex, Lies and Videotape" and "Flat Liners" to name a few. But as the advice stated, be sure you are prepared just in case things go sour. It's no secret what could happen if you videotape somehow ends up available to the public. Just look what's going on with Paris Hilton, R. Kelly, Pamela Anderson and most recently Dr. J (former NBA Star of Philadelphia 76ers). If you're running for public office or you're going through a nasty divorce, I don't need to tell you the ramifications of what can happen if a tape of you doing the nasty got out. But if you're pretty secured in a relationship - why not have a little fun?

If you want to video tape your lovemaking, you and your partner need to make some things very clear. You should decide who keeps the tape and who can see it. It should be labeled in a way that it doesn't draw attention and it doesn't get mixed in with your regular tapes -- locking it up in a safe is not a bad idea.

A great way of capturing video is to mount the camera on a tripod and videotape that way. If you don't have a tripod try putting the camera in an area that will face the location you're going to have sex in. Sometimes books stacked on top of each other can place the camera at eye level and capture some excellent video. If you really want to get some great shots this will be an excellent time to ask a couple that you met at your last swing outing to videotape the two of you having sex. I'm sure they would have no problem obliging -- and maybe adding to the content.
